Our History
The Story of Forest of Antlers Outfitters
Forest of Antlers Outfitters has been welcoming hunters to Wisconsin’s Northwoods since the mid-1990s. What began as a vision to create a premier trophy whitetail destination has grown into one of the most respected preserves in the region. Our 950+ acres of carefully managed land are unlike any other in Northern Wisconsin. With two private lakes, Johnson Creek, Mitchell Lake, and the Tomahawk River bordering the property, the preserve offers an unmatched natural setting for both deer and hunters.
From the start, our mission has been simple: to provide hunters with a world-class experience rooted in conservation, ethical practices, and exceptional hospitality. Over the years, we’ve invested in habitat management, selective genetics, and sustainable herd practices to ensure that every hunter who visits Forest of Antlers has the opportunity to pursue a trophy buck of a lifetime.
Wisconsin’s Deer Hunting Heritage
Deer hunting has deep roots in Wisconsin, dating back to the state’s earliest settlers and Native American communities who relied on white-tailed deer for food, clothing, and tools. By the early 1900s, unregulated hunting and habitat loss had reduced deer populations to dangerously low levels.
In response, Wisconsin established some of the country’s first regulated hunting seasons and conservation programs. These efforts, along with habitat restoration, helped the deer herd rebound dramatically. Today, Wisconsin is known as one of the premier whitetail destinations in the United States, attracting hunters from across the country every fall.
At Forest of Antlers, we’re proud to carry this tradition forward. Our preserve offers hunters a chance to experience the state’s hunting heritage while also enjoying the benefits of carefully managed land and trophy-caliber genetics.
Preserving the Land & the Legacy
What makes Forest of Antlers unique isn’t just our success rates or trophy quality, it’s the land itself. The combination of woodlands, water sources, and rich forage creates an ideal environment for healthy deer herds. We’ve worked for decades to maintain this balance, ensuring that both hunters and wildlife thrive here.
By blending modern wildlife management practices with Wisconsin’s hunting traditions, we’ve built more than just a hunting ranch, we’ve built a destination where memories are made, skills are passed down, and the outdoor way of life is celebrated.
Looking Ahead
As we continue into the future, our commitment remains the same: to provide hunters with a safe, ethical, and unforgettable experience while maintaining the health of our herd and the beauty of our land. Whether you’re joining us for your first guided hunt or returning as a lifelong guest, the history of Forest of Antlers is a story we’re proud to share with you.
